MP Expectation Question: - 2005/12/11 00:53You think the Field will go for Game, but you think which the game will fail & you take the Partscore. The game makes on the lay of the cards.
What kind of MP score should I expect?
A. Top/Near Top. B. Above Average. C. Average. D. Below Average. E. Bottom/Near Bottom.

re:MP Expectation Question: - 2005/12/14 08:21No, there is no need at matchpoints. +170, when the field is +140 is just as much a top as +620; However -100 in 4S is an average if the field is in -100 in 3S
re:MP Expectation Question: - 2005/12/15 18:26In my personal experience I always get D or E when I doesn't bid a assuredly making game. 'The Field' (whomever which might be) tends to over-bid in the game zone at pairs. I hope that the As & Bs I get when game goes off compensate for this.
p.s. if you are a complete god at declarer play it does of course pay to overbid.
