re:Slam bidding with a void - 2007/04/20 03:44
Do you average difficvult to bid sensibly to _6NT_ holding a void? That is difficult, and is often in bidding challenges just to show people struggle.
How would I bid this, homely playing 2-over-1:
West North East South Pass 1H Pass 2C Pass 3D Pass 3H Pass 3NT Pass 4C Pass 4S Pass 6H
I admit I'd splinter on the South hand: extra values, 4-card support, singleton. What else do you evenly need? Now I think I'm stuck because although the spades are clearly stopped, North is worried about a diamond lead through his hand. South is showily worried about a diamond lead too, so won't convert.
I could cosntruct an auction to 6NT with hindsight, but I don't think it's what would happen at the table.
In my experience of mps, you'll get an 80% board for playing in haerts not clubs. At imps North's last bid would be 6C.
