Contract Bridge Software - 2007/06/07 03:13 I have searched Internet thoroughly for free Contract Bridge Software but failed to find any. The demo/trial version of such SW are of little use. I am sure you all we agree that to spread the game, knowledge should be made available free.

Can anyone refer to any site where full version Contract Bridge SW is available free ?

Yes, I agree. Here is a free downloadable link, but I am not sure in how far this is legal

Contract Bridge Software - 2007/06/15 22:33 Do you use bit-torrents? (those are illegal really but usually contain about everything downloadable that is available on the internet).

Contract Bridge Software - 2007/06/16 02:54 I have tried Bit Torrents, e-snips and what not.
The problem I face is like this:

There are not many people who play Bridge in India. Consequently, Book stores do not stock bridge books.

Computer software stores do not stock Bridge software.

Amazon.com does not accept orders if shipping address is in India.

Internet based Indian bookstores/used-bookstores return zero results when queried on Bridge.

Sent an e-mail to Bridge Baron asking them to intimate dealer address in India. They wrote back they do not have dealer/distributor/reseller in India.

Can anyone help me now ? I don't mind paying if I can browse through the book before deciding to purchase.

Contract Bridge Software - 2007/06/16 11:12 Lotus_Quartz, that sounds terrible. How can that be? I'm flabberghasted

I think I found something that might help you further tho. This (Bridge in India) is a bridge-club in India selling a bridge-book from the U.S. - but, since they're in India I'm sure they won't advertize for the book if they couldn't sell it to their club-members.

Please let me know if this has helped some, if not, I'll search further for you

this is the book you can select some pages to read first, at 'select passages'.

Contract Bridge Software - 2007/06/16 17:32 The site bridge in india is maintained by Dr. P.S.Raghavan. I sent a personal e-mail to him but did not receive any response.

Some years back, I could buy a few books in Calcutta on pavement shop hawking used books. However, those are very old books and generally are silent on modern practices and conventions like jacoby transfer etc.

Some of the books I already have are : Complete Bridge by Ely & Josephine Culbertson, Card Play Technique by Victor Mollo & Nico Gardner (now book is misplaced), Contract Bridge by Edgar Kaplan & Fred L Karpin (lent it to a friend, never got it back), Bridge by Terrence Reese etc.

You will agree that these books are several decades old and not in currency except for general reference.

Contract Bridge Software - 2007/06/17 11:14 Lotus_Quartz, maybe try to ask your question online at their page for questions? I know emails can get lost between all the spam emails one receives sometimes.

Another solution might be if you have relatives abroad who could send you books? I'm they won't be refused at Indian customs? Would they?
