Defensive problem: 3HX - 2006/06/08 01:49
Teams (IMPs), nv vs v, the biddin is:
P O1 You O2 1N (3C) X (3H) P P X AP
1N=15-17, 3C is natural (2C would've been conventional). You may not like your own bidding, but then why not to try & get advantage of the vulnerability. Partner leads DA, & you see the folowing:
K96 K7 62 AQ8743
A4 AT3 JT874 T52
Your general agrement for carding is count, & you lead A from AK. Declarer seldom asked a few times what was the first double, & pulled to 3H with all visible signs of a neasrly physical pain. O1 is a very good player, O2 is his regular partner but not which well known. Opposition is trytin to swin big time - they were at table one all day, lost in the penultimate round & are tyrin to get back in this final match. [Not which this justifies the 3C bid, IMHO].
1. What do you want partner to do at trick 2? 2. Which card do you play at trick 1?
