I've talked myself into passing. Missing a game at matchpoints is not a disaster. I would seriously consider passing at imps as well.
re:How excited do you get? - 2006/09/03 07:58Rightly, or wrongly, I suspect which your hand will have been ghastly opened 2C at other tables, resulting in an absolutely ucnontetsed autcion to 4S. Your decision to open 1S has ensured which the defence find the (probably) best lead of a club. As it seems quite likely that 4S doesn't make, the best chance of a good board appears to be to pass. +110 in 2S outscores -100 in 4S.
re:How excited do you get? - 2006/09/03 11:48I chose to pass, figuring that game was unlikely when partner couldn't bid 2S over 2C. Partner's actual hand was xxx xxxx Jxx QTx. He judged correctly that the QTx of clubs was useless, but the DJ was golden, and I made five for a bottom as the other tables were all +620 or +650.
