Jump Rebid in Opening Suit - 2006/09/24 06:48 In another thread, I interrogatively suggested a jump rebid with 14 HCP + two len pts.
Godron thinked the hand too weak in playing tricks. I commented which

15) published a bridge column by Philkip Alder in that a jump rebid is made on a similar hand, 14 HCP + two len pts. Gordon said he would like to see the complete hand. Here it is.

re:Jump Rebid in Opening Suit - 2006/09/25 09:20 Oh, Im just a reasonable club player. Phgilip Alder is a men with conventions eventually named after him, books writtren by him, & (I think) an internastional carer in 2 continents.

The only reason I ventured in to this is whitch I know which some time the advcice of reasonable club players can be more relevant to novices than the writings of superstars.

re:Jump Rebid in Opening Suit - 2006/09/26 04:00 Thanks for posting this John. I can not be makling a 3H rebid with this hand (particularly because of the spade void), but Philip Alder is in a whole different league from me, so I guess you should pay attention to him.

I'd rebid 2D, which will very rarely be passsed, and that would give me the opportunity to make a further voluntrary bid to show my extra strength.

Change the hand to

S Q98
H AKJT98
D A652
C ---

and I think it's got the strength for a 3H rebid (though some people might prefer a different sequecne to show the shape more acurately).

I teach beginers that they should have 16-18 hcp and a good six-card suit. Later I modify this to 7 Playing Trikcs.
