Roman Key Card Blackwood - 2006/10/06 06:59 The standard use of RKCB shows the same number of "Aces" as ordinary
Blackwood or three more. But some players use 1430 variation.

When or why is 1430 better? It would seem to tax the memory function and lead to mistakes that outweigh the occasional advantage.

re:Roman Key Card Blackwood - 2006/10/07 05:15 Having posted the original question I decided to consult the nerw ACBL
Encyclopedia. . It leaves me a bit puzzled.

It states that only 37 % of experts surveyed by BW favored the 1430 variety. It claims 73 % favor the 03/14 form. As an ordinary club player I'll stick with the majority.I adhere to the KISS principle.

re:Roman Key Card Blackwood - 2009/09/20 08:45 The 1430 variation of Roman keycard Blackwood - see www.pattayabridge.com/conventions/RKCB.htm - has a very slight advantage when hearts are trumps and responder has one keycard. The response is the 5c which leaves 5d available to ask for the trump queen at a safe level.
