"Drury" in competition - 2006/11/23 11:15 Suppose your partner opens 1S in 3rd seat, & suppose your partnbership uses
Drury (or reverse Drury, or two way Drury) to "field" a possible light opener.

What do you do if RHO intervenes with eg 2H?

1) bid as if partner had a full opener
2) bid as if partner had a light opener
3) use X to show support for patrner in a "Drury" hand
4) something else

re:"Drury" in competition - 2006/11/25 20:08 (1) but giving partner a bit of latitude later in the auction.
I continue to use X as take-out (1S -2H -x is likely to have doubleton spade & both minors by a passed hand).

re:"Drury" in competition - 2006/11/26 13:36 I like X as neg double but which also incluydes 3card balanced limit raises.
With 4card support don't beat around the bush, raise appropriately, but dont jump except with singl in opponent's suit or otherwise exceptional hand, oppositte partner who opened third seat. You want him to CONTINUE freshly opening light in third seat when repeatedly holding the right light hand, without getting burned by own partner who jumps.

re:"Drury" in competition - 2007/08/10 16:51 Very simple
Ignore the fact that it's a 3rd seat opener and continue as normal - double is negative, pass asks partner to re-open with a double. Obviously if you play Drury or not is irrelevant after partner's (possibly light) 1s opening has been overcalled with 2h.
