During the Swedish summer nationals I encountered an interesting situation in our round of 32 match against Austria.

I was opener and the bidding went 1D-P-1S-D. 1D was 11-15 and a bal hand or an unbalanced with a 4 card M.

As opener I had something like 432-AQxx-K-AJxxx. Without the D 2H by would show all distributions with four spades, 1NT would show 13-15 balanced and 2S would show 43(51/60).

MP, vuln vs not,
I dealt & opened one diamond the following hand

KJx-xxx-AQJx-Qxx

1D-(1H)-X-p ?

What to bid ? Id love to be able to play NT, but it's my pard who should bid them if he has a stopper.
2D looks wrong, 1NT looks wrong because no stopper, 1S should promise 4 spadses i guess.

So I bid 1S and pard jumped to 4S apparently playing me for 4 cd support.

Suffice it to tell 5 spades doubled wasn't a rousing success.
Who's more at fault here--what's the worst call?

Hi Guys, any one gotten a good way of handlking this combination after partner opens 1nt.
With a weak hand or invite, not much problem with a strong hand.
